Kindness

The past few days have brought so many kind gestures my way. I am truly blessed.

This amazing prayer shawl arrived on my porch on Saturday, stitched with love and healing by a most amazing gentle spirit. It's been on me or near me ever since, working its magic. Isn't the colorway beautiful?

A volunteer makes these tiny pillows that are given to all breast cancer patients requiring surgery. Just the size of a doll pillow, it's perfect for slipping inside a soft, snug t-shirt and providing extra cushion around the lymph node incision. The little "hope" tag in the corner makes it extra sweet.

Flowers make any room a little happier. Much nicer than looking at the pills and inevitable clutter that collects when living in the bedroom.

Along with the physical gifts, there have been many blessings from the heart:

sweet words from friends

the best pre-op nurse ever

the breast health care coordinator who wheeled me from test to test and let me squeeze her hand during those nasty radioactive tracer shots

my surgeon, who does the tracer shots herself (instead of having the radiologist do them) to make sure her patients are as comfortable as possible

a freelance design colleague who is covering my jobs for four days so that I can rest

my husband and daughter, who keep loving me through it all

    1. BTW...I just watched Forks over Knives. Wow. That was good! Thanks for telling me about it. I'm kind of excited now, to begin my planned Vegan cleanse. It also made me feel so hopeful for you and your health, since I know that you are eating that way.

  3. Dawn and Tammy, Thank you for adding your positive energies to the mix. Today I passed another chemotherapy hurdle: the hot lymph node they had to remove was negative for cancer cells. One more to go!

Dawn, I'm glad you liked Forks Over Knives. I'm still not 100% vegan, but I have noticed that I feel better since I drastically reduced dairy. (I still eat yogurt.) I hope you enjoy your cleanse!
